"Everyone has a role to play in reducing childhood obesity, including parents, elected officials from all levels of government, schools, health care professionals, faith-based and community-based organizations, and private sector companies. Your involvement is key to ensuring a healthy future for our children."

Let's Move

This special collection of lessons focuses on nutritious eating and healthy living, including online activities for parents and caregivers.

One third of children and adolescents in the United States are overweight or obese, and the trend does not look good. In fact, the percentage of overweight children and adolescents in the US has tripled in the last thirty years.

Teachers have a unique opportunity to instill lifelong health and fitness habits in students through nutritional education. Kids need to learn that the way they fuel their bodies has an impact on their health. Childhood obesity has been linked to diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, and poor academic performance and many other long-term health problems.

To raise awareness of the epidemic of childhood obesity, and in support of the national Let's Move campaign, eLearning Systems is offering a series of online learning activities aimed at reversing the trend of childhood obesity by 2015.

The series includes seven lessons, two of which are for parents and caregivers, promoting healthy food selection and serving correct portions. Parents also learn how to model nutritious eating and promote physical activity for healthy minds.

Online lesson titles include:

Elementary Student Activities
Secondary Student Activities
Parent Activities

To encourage schools and teachers to provide access to these online activities for their students and families, we are offering them at a special discounted rate. Visit our order form for pricing details.
